This includes the chemical industry, food industry, energy production, paper and cardboard production, glass industry, plastics production, pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology, refineries, water treatment, and petrochemicals. This sector is highly concentrated in industrial areas such as Rotterdam Botlek, Eemshaven, Zeeland, and Limburg. Through innovations in circular production, hydrogen, and biobased materials, the process industry plays a key role in the Dutch energy transition.
